SNAP, known as 3SquaresVT in Vermont, provides monthly benefits to income-eligible individuals and families to help them buy the food they need for a healthier diet.
3SquaresVT is available to all eligible individuals, including single adults, families with children, seniors, and people with disabilities.
However, Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) ages 18–64 may only receive benefits for up to three months within a 36-month period unless they meet certain work requirements.

How do I apply for food stamps in Vermont?
Applications for 3SquaresVT can be made online through myBenefits or in person at your local district office. 2 After your application is submitted, an interview will be scheduled, either by phone or in person, to determine your eligibility.
If eligible, you will receive an EBT Card, called “Vermont Express”, which can be used to buy eligible food items at participating stores and farmers’ markets.
