Alabama Student Assistance Program

Alabama Student Assistance Program (ASAP) is one of the Alabama Student Aid Programs that awards eligible Alabama residents to study at an independent college or university in Alabama.

There are currently 80 Alabama institutions participating in the program. Students must be enrolled at least half-time and demonstrate substantial financial need.

Awards are up to $5,000 per academic year, subject to available funding. Eligible students may also receive FSEOG awards in the same semester.

Who is eligible for Alabama Student Assistance Program?

  1. Be an Alabama resident and U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  2. Restricted to students studying in Alabama
  3. Be classified as an undergraduate student
  4. Must attend a university, a four-year college, two-year college or a vocational-tech school
  5. Be enrolled at minimum half-time in an eligible program in an approved institution
  6. Meet satisfactory academic progress requirements

How do I apply for Alabama Student Assistance Program?

There is no special form for ASAP. To be considered, you must submit the FAFSA as early as possible after October 1. As funding is limited, students who submitted earliest are given priority consideration.
