How Do I Make Corrections to my FAFSA?

For the 20252026 FAFSA, any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 14, 2026.

If the information you entered on your FAFSA was incorrect as of the day you signed the FAFSA or your form is in “Action Required” status, you can make any necessary corrections to the data which was entered incorrectly.

But keep in mind the following things you can’t change your financial information and marital status, unless it was incorrect as of the day the FAFSA was submitted.

Can I edit my FAFSA after submitting?

Yes, you can edit the FAFSA after submission, but you have to wait until your form is processed. After your FAFSA form is processed, you can make a correction using one of the methods described below:

  4. If you are making a voluntary change, select “Actions” and then “Make a Correction”.

In typical situation, once your correction is submitted, it will be processed within one to three days. You will receive a confirmation email when your correction has been processed, and a revised FAFSA Submission Summary will be generated to reflect the changes you have made.
