New York SNAP

SNAP is the state’s largest nutrition assistance program that helps low-income New Yorkers — including working families, older adults, and people with disabilities — put healthy food on the table.

As a condition of eligibility, all SNAP recipients in New York must either meet the general SNAP work rules or the ABAWD work rules  unless otherwise exempt.

The ABAWD time-limit waiver for SNAP remains in effect in all New York districts except Saratoga County until March 1, 2026.
