Award amounts vary each year based on financial need, tuition costs, and available funding. For the current academic year, the maximum annual award is $5,750.

Who is eligible for PA State Grant Program?

  1. Be a Pennsylvania resident and U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  2. Have a high school diploma or GED
  3. Be an undergraduate student with no prior baccalaureate degree
  4. Be enrolled at least half-time (at least six semester credits or the equivalent) in a school approved by PHEAA
  5. Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA with an SAI of 12,000 or less.
  6. Not be in default or pending default on an educational loan

How do I apply for PA State Grant Program?

To be considered for a Pennsylvania State Grant, you must fill out the FAFSA no later than May 1 each year, and complete the PA State Grant Form if you are applying for the first time.

If you wish to apply for a Summer State Grant, you must complete a separate application available on the PHEAA website. The deadline is August 15.
