Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG)
The Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG) provides financial aid to eligible Mississippi students with demonstrated need who attend approved public and nonprofit two-year or four-year colleges and universities in the state.
MTAG awards may be up to $500 per academic year for freshmen and sophomores and $1,000 per academic year for juniors and seniors.
Priority is given to Pell Grant recipients with unmet need as evidenced by a Student Aid Index (SAI) greater than zero (0) on the FAFSA.

Who is eligible for Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant?
To be considered for MTAG, you must:
- Be a legal Mississippi resident for at least one year before applying.
- Have a 2.5 GPA from high school, or have earned a GED/high school equivalency.
- Have an ACT score of at least 15.
- Enroll full-time at an approved college in Mississippi in a program leading to your first certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree.
- Be eligible for less than the maximum Federal Pell Grant, based on your FAFSA results.
How do I apply for Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant?
To apply for MTAG, you must first file your FAFSA and complete the Mississippi Office of Financial Aid online application by the deadline date of September 15th.
