Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG)

The Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG) is a need-based financial aid for eligible students attending approved public or private non-profit colleges and universities in the state.

MTAG awards may be up to $500 per academic year for freshmen and sophomores and $1,000 per academic year for juniors and seniors.

Starting in the 2025—2026 academic year, MTAG require students to enroll in and pass at least 12 credit hours per semester to maintain eligibility.

Who is eligible for Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant?

To be considered for MTAG, you must:

Be a legal Mississippi resident for at least one year before applying.
Have a 2.5 GPA from high school, or have earned a GED/high school equivalency.
Have an ACT score of at least 15.
Enroll full-time at an approved college in Mississippi in a program leading to your first certificate, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree.
Be eligible for less than the maximum Federal Pell Grant as determined by the FAFSA.

How do I apply for Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant?

To be considered for MTAG, you must first submit your FAFSA and complete the Mississippi Aid Application (MAAPP) by September 15.
