South Carolina Tuition Grant

South Carolina Tuition Grant  provides financial aid to South Carolina’s neediest students attending one of the 21 independent colleges and universities within the state.

Eligibility is based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Beyond financial need, students must graduate with at least a 2.7 GPA, or score a minimum of 900 on the SAT.¹

Students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA and meet the required academic standards may receive a maximum award of $5,000.

Who is eligible for the SC Tuition Grant?

1. Be a South Carolina resident and U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
2. Be an undergraduate student with no prior baccalaureate degree
3. Be admitted and enrolled full-time at an approved South Carolina college or university ²
4. Have at least 12 eligible credit-hours per semester
5. Must exhibit financial need as determined by the FAFSA

How do I apply for SC Tuition Grant?

There is no separate application. To be considered, you must first complete the FAFSA and list your chosen participating college in the “college choice” section of your FAFSA.

The application deadline for the 2027—2028 academic year is August 1, 2027. Early applicants are given first priority for consideration.
