New York Medicaid
New York Medicaid provides comprehensive health coverage to eligible low-income residents, including children, pregnant women, seniors, and adults with disabilities.
It provides a wide range of essential medical services at little or no cost, including routine doctor visits, inpatient and outpatient hospital care, and prescription drug coverage through the NYRx Pharmacy Program . Beyond standard medical care, the program offers long-term services, such as nursing home care and home health aides.
The program is divided into two primary eligibility categories:
- MAGI (Modified Adjusted Gross Income)
Generally covers low-income adults under 65, children under age 18, and pregnant women. - Non-MAGI
Covers individuals over 65, those who are blind or disabled, or those requiring long-term care.
Effective January 1, 2025, New York now provides continuous coverage for children from birth until age 6. Once enrolled, a child remains eligible regardless of changes in family income.
