Oklahoma Unemployment Insurance

Oklahoma Unemployment Insurance (UI) is a program of social insurance that provides a temporary source of income for workers unemployed through no fault of their own.

Each state sets its own guidelines for eligibility for UI benefits, but you usually qualify if you:

  1. have lost a job through no fault of your own;
  2. are unemployed or partially unemployed for reasons permissible under federal law;
  3. are “able to work, available to work, and actively seeking work;” and
  4. have earned at least a certain amount of money during a “base period” prior to becoming unemployed. In most states, this is usually the first 4 out of the last 5 completed calendar quarters prior to the time that your claim is filed.

According to the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, to qualify for unemployment benefits, you must have earned a minimum amount of wages in a recent ‘base period’ and must have:1

  1. wages in at least two quarters of the base period,
  2. earned a total of at least $1,500 during the base period, and
  3. total base-period wages of at least 1.5 times the wages earned in your highest-paid quarter.

For example, if your highest-paid quarter was $2,000, your total base-period wages must be at least $3,000 ($2,000 × 1.5), and these wages must be earned in at least two quarters of the base period.

How much unemployment benefits can I get in Oklahoma?

Depending on how much you have earned in your base period, you may receive up to $649 per week in 2026 for a maximum of 16 weeks of unemployment benefits per year. Your weekly benefit amount is one twenty-third of your highest quarter of wages in the base period.1

As a condition of eligibility, you are also required to register for employment services at OKJobMatch.com within seven (7) days of filing your initial claim.

How long can I receive unemployment in Oklahoma?

Eligible workers in Oklahoma can receive up to 16 weeks of unemployment insurance. The limit is set by state law and may change, so the current figure should be confirmed with the state agency when you file.
