Missouri Earned Income Tax Credit
Missouri offers the Working Family Tax Credit, a state earned income tax credit (EITC) available beginning in tax year 2023. The credit equals 20% of the federal EITC. A household that qualifies for a $2,000 federal EITC may claim an additional $400 on the Missouri income tax return. 1
The credit is non-refundable. A non-refundable credit may reduce Missouri income tax liability to zero, but any remaining amount is not paid as a refund. Households with little or no Missouri income tax liability may not receive the full credit.
