Alaska Heating Assistance Program (HAP)

Alaska’s Heating Assistance Program (HAP) helps eligible Alaska residents offset the cost of home heating by providing a one-time seasonal payment towards heating fuel or electricity.

According to the Alaska Division of Public Assistance, HAP combines LIHEAP, which is federally funded and covers households with income up to 150% of the federal poverty guidelines, and the state-funded Alaska Affordable Heating Program (AAHP), which covers 150% to 225% of the guidelines. Households must also pay at least $200 per year in heating costs out of pocket.1
