Pennsylvania LIHEAP opens applications for 2026-27 heating season
Published on November 3, 2026
Pennsylvania’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is accepting applications for the 2026-27 heating season through April 23, 2027. Eligible households may receive up to $1,000 in heating assistance, plus an additional $1,000 in the event of a heating emergency. Funding is limited, and NBC10 Philadelphia reports that officials encourage households to apply before funding runs out. 1
Both renters and homeowners may qualify, and applicants do not need to be behind on their heating bills. Eligibility is based on household size and income. Households that received LIHEAP assistance last year must submit a new application this season; applications saved from last year will not be accepted.
The fastest way to apply is online through Pennsylvania’s COMPASS website, and residents may also submit a paper application. NBC10 Philadelphia reports that residents are encouraged to check their eligibility even if they are unsure whether they meet the requirements.
