Medicaid provides free or low-cost health coverage to low-income individuals and their families. In Hawaii, Medicaid is called Med-QUEST.

As Hawaii is expanding Medicaid coverage, many previously uninsured Hawaiians age 19-64 with income up to 138% of the federal poverty level (FPL) may now gain coverage. Children and pregnant women are eligible at higher income levels.

  • Outpatient medical services including home health, podiatry, smoking cessation, urgent care, and more
  • Pregnancy-related services
  • Prescription drugs
  • Rehabilitation

If you qualify for Medicare based on your age or disability status, and you also qualify for Hawaii Medicaid, you might qualify for a Dual-Eligible Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan, or DSNP.


What is the income limit for Med-QUEST Hawaii? #

In Hawaii, children under age 19 in families with income up to 313% of poverty or about $89,490 for a single mother of two are eligible for Med-QUEST as well as pregnant women earning less than $56,040 a year.
