Arizona Nutrition Assistance Program (NA)

Updated August 24, 2020

Arizona’s Nutrition Assistance Program allows low-income families to buy healthy food with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards. Recipients spend their benefits to buy eligible food in authorized retail food stores. 1

The amount of benefits depends on household size and income. For example, a single mother with two children who works full-time may receive as much as $395 in Nutrition Assistance benefits per month.

In order to qualify for Nutrition Assistance Program, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Live in Arizona
  • Be a US Citizen or a lawful permanent resident
  • Show proof of identity
  • Meet certain income guidelines
  • Have less than $5,000 in resources

As a condition of eligibility, all SNAP recipients in Arizona must meet the general SNAP work rules or the ABAWD work rules unless otherwise exempt. ABAWDs who aren’t exempt are limited to three months of eligibility every 36 months.
